Thai Hung Company temporarily imported Wuling Hongguang mini electric car model for research


The cheap electric car model was temporarily imported by Thai Binh Hung Thinh JSC for research.
In China, cars have about 100-150 million VND because the government of this country has a support program when people buy electric cars. Car manufacturers are also assigned the quota to produce electric vehicles to get quotes for the production of internal combustion engine vehicles.
That is also the reason why the parent company makes a relatively low profit for a Hongguang Mini EV, so it prioritizes production to serve domestic demand instead of exporting to foreign markets. Hongguang is a model researched by the SAIC-GM-Wuling alliance, sold in the Chinese domestic market from July 2020. With a low price, this model quickly became the best-selling electric car in the Chinese market as well as in the world.
The car is designed like an A-size car with a boxy shape like a Japanese K-car to optimize space. The details are also minimalist and without much technology, with halogen front and rear lights.
The body is short with dimensions of 2,917×1,943×1,621 mm and the wheelbase is only 1,940 mm. Large windows and glass make the car small but create a comfortable and airy sitting space.
In China, the car is sold with 3 versions and 3 optional colors, of which the most advanced version is painted in two colors with white paint. To increase the fashion element, mid-year the company created a bare variant with a fabric roof.

The version imported for research is the one with two-way air conditioning, electric glass, radio, and automatic door lock when running, but the rearview mirror is manually adjusted because of electric adjustment.
The central display screen with basic information includes the distance traveled, battery level, gear lever position, seat belt warning, door open alarm…
All displays are in Chinese and are displayed on an electronic screen approximately 7 inches in size.
The position for adjusting the air conditioner and radio is placed next to each other, with a simple design that is easy to see and has an orange border around it. The function keys are also in Chinese like the screen behind the driver.
The second row of seats can sit with two adults, but the legroom is not too comfortable. All positions are fully equipped with straps and the vehicle is designed for the owner and the second row can be tilted towards the owner. Graphical vertical space is 741 liters.
Quality content is also not the cheapest possible with felt seats but colorful shapes on the back of the chair. High-end levels can be equipped with leather seats and more useful equipment.
The community sales of Wuling Hongguang Mini EV from the first sale in June 2020 to the end of September were 400,000 vehicles. Also in September, the product of the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture was China’s best-selling electric vehicle, slightly better than rival Tesla Model Y.
In September, there were 35,169 Hongguang Mini EVs with new owners, up 143% over the same period in 2020. Meanwhile, Tesla Model Y sold 33,033 vehicles, and Model 3 was 19,120 vehicles.
